A. Wool Batting: 100% Wool Thermal Bonded - (Super Washed) Wool
Batting, 4" Spacing, Shrinkage 3% to 5%
If a sleeping quilt is your goal, super soft washed wool is the answer. It breathes naturally and
allows air to pass through, making an excellent summer quilt. Wool has qualities that also keep
us warm in the winter. The light weight offers comfort as it does not weigh you down. This makes
it perfect for garments. Machine quilters who desire very closely stitched areas use Wool for its
softness. When using a finer thread, the quilt remains soft and does not result in a stiff quilt.
Legacy Wool batting is the ultimate experience in hand quilting. There is little to no resistance
and the lofty nature of super washed wool shows an amazing definition in the stitches. Hand and
machine quilters love the results. When you really want to show your quilting workmanship, this is

B. Polyester Batting: 100% Polyester Thermal Bonded - (Fine
Denier) Siliconized Polyester Batting, 4" Spacing, Shrinkage 3%
It is made from siliconized polyester for softness. It is bonded to retard bearding [aka fiber
migration to the surface]. Siliconized Polyesters are slicker and small denier fibers are softer and
create a "cloudier" looking batting. Polyester does not breathe like many natural fibers and
therefore could make a very warm bed covering as it traps body warmth. It provides a good deal
of loft promoting definition in quilting stitches whether by hand or machine. Poly is extremely easy
to hand quilt. The ‘puff’ or loft is often used in the Trapunto technique, where an additional
section of batting is placed underneath an area and then quilted for added dimension. Enjoy the

Linen is a plant fiber made of the flax plant and is one of the earliest fibers to be made into cloth
and is the strongest vegetable fiber, with 2 to 3 times the strength of cotton. This thin batting is
highly absorbent, has a natural luster and a crisp hand. Needle punched to a very light weight
scrim binder. Linen does wrinkle but presses well.

100% micro denier 2.1oz polyester displaying a very low loft that provides a very soft, uniform

The only difference in Legacy/Pellon Natural Cotton & White Cotton is the color. Needle punching
adds no chemicals. No scrim binder is used making this a soft natural & easy to needle batting.

Linen is a plant fiber made of the flax plant and is one of the earliest fibers to be made into cloth
and is the strongest vegetable fiber, with 2 to 3 times the strength of cotton. This thin batting is
highly absorbent, has a natural luster and a crisp hand. Needle punched to a very light weight
scrim binder. Linen does wrinkle but presses well.

N. Ultra Thin Polyester Batting: 100% Micro Denier Polyester, 8"-10"

100% micro denier 2.1oz polyester displaying a very low loft that provides a very soft, uniform
and silky hand. Very light weight with a low loft of 1/16". Easy to needle. Excellent for garments
and wall quilts as well as table runners and any quilt project needing a light inner lining providing
thin body with very little loft.

the unique effect created by the slight
shrinkage of the batting when the
completed quilt is washed.
