Harmony Hand Dyes hand-dyed Fabric MX Procion Dye Shiva Paintstiks Tisdale SK Sask Saskatchewan Canada

Raycafix: Photo/ Inkjet printer fixative.
Does not work on laser – only inkjet printer ink. The quality of the ink will dictate
the quality of the end result. Good ink adheres better than refill quality.
You will need fabric, freezer paper and Raycafix.
1. Prewash your fabric (even if Prepared For Dying fabric). You can wash by
hand or machine.
2. Cut fabric into size that will fit in your inkjet printer – usually 8.5” X 11”
3. Mix a solution of 2 Tablespoons of Raycafix and 1 cup of HOT water. Put in a
container that the fabric can lie flat in (a plastic tote works great but do NOT use
aluminum.)
4. Place each piece of pre-cut fabric in – one piece at a time and let soak for 5
minutes. Use rubber gloves. Caution: Raycafix contains Methyl Alcohol and
may irritate the skin. When one piece of fabric is removed, you can immerse
another.
5. Take out of solution and hang to dry.
6. Iron your fabric then iron each piece on to the shiny side of freezer paper to
stabilize when going through the printer. Trim any threads from around the
paper. If they catch on the edges of the printer, they can pull the fabric away
from the freezer paper and the picture will move and could become distorted.
You can reuse the freezer paper but don’t use it too many times as the picture
can pull away and distort.
7. Place in the printer and print on BEST quality.
8. Remove from freezer paper and iron for 1 minute.
If you do not plan to ever wash your project, you can stop here, but if you plan to
use the pictures in a quilt or article that will be washed, do a final fix as follows:
9. Soak again in a diluted solution of 1 Tablespoon of Raycafix per gallon of
water. Again, use a tote or container that the fabric can lie flat in and soak each
picture separately for 5 minutes.
10. Rinse immediately in T.N.A. soap and hang to dry.
Any further washing should be in gentle soap and warm water.
Note: If you need to adjust the photo before printing you can “Insert” the picture
into MSWord and then with the drawing tools, resize or increase the contrast if
the picture is light.
Cutting suggestion for fabric. If you
Purchase the kit, there should be a piece
23” X 42”
I have done eight sheets but you could
probably get lots more out of the solution.
When placing photos, remember to allow
for ¼” seams around the pictures.

Dye Fixative. Use if you have a problem with continued bleeding of dyed fabrics.
Can also be used to fix the dyes from inkjet printers on fabric. (See below)
Fill container with enough hot water (160F) to cover the fabric and add 1
teaspoon of Raycafix for every meter. Soak 5 minutes but don’t agitate. Rinse
with cool water and dry at once. Whenever you launder the fabric again, just use
warm water.
